Why do we call ourselves an eco luxe cottage?

Sure, we have incredible views of kooparoona niara / Great Western Tiers and the Meander Valley. The cottage is hand-built, well insulated, and furnished with unique vintage/antique finds and decorated with creative work by local artists.

Yes, some of the world's most incredible wilderness is found just 15 minutes up the road.

But did you know that of the 54 acres that Cedar Cottage Meander sits on, 50 is dedicated to native forest regeneration?

We are regrowing various temperate wet sclerophyll and rainforest species like Eucalyptus obliqua (stringybark), Blechnum wattsii (hard water fern) and Acacia melanoxylon (blackwood).

We use permaculture and organic gardening practices in our vegetable garden, Veg Mahal. We encourage you to pick and enjoy fresh veggies, herbs, and berries during your stay.

You can taste the sun-ripened goodness.

We are also a registered private water supplier, with our natural spring water treated via a double UV sterilisation and filtration system using zero chemicals.

The cedar hot tub uses an ozonator and silver ionisation, not chlorine or bromine. We use this to water our garden. The tub is insulated to retain heat and reduce energy consumption.

Our fire pit wood is sourced from fallen trees on our land and nearby property.

We sort and dispose of all of our rubbish and recycling by hand. Food waste goes into one of our many compost bins.

This is our home and our community. This isn't an investment property.

Sustainability isn’t just a point of difference for us, it’s a way of life.
