WANDERING TROUT

This innovative and passionately local establishment, perched on the main road of Mole Creek, offers world-fusion fare focusing on hyper local, ethically sourced ingredients.

Chef Justin McLeod’s food is fine and always creative, but never fussy or pretentious. There’s an art to celebrating great produce without complicating it.

Book the excellent host’s table experience with evolving seasonal menu, or chill out on a share table, get to know your neighbours and listen to live tunes. The vibe is warm, connected and casual.

Justin’s regular menu is also consistently yummy, especially the okonomiyaki (savoury Japanese pancake) and triple cooked potato chips.

There’s a comprehensive range of house brewed beer on tap, We love the toasted malty goodness of the BelCzech Bohemian Pale Ale.

No probs if you’re not into beer, select from a thoughtfully curated list of local wines, ciders, spirits, and non-alcoholic drinks. You won’t find the usual suspects here, just quality local liquid refreshment.

Open for lunch and dinner.

We recommend stopping by after visiting Cradle Mountain, or exploring the nearby caves, seeing Trowunna Wildlife Sanctury, or walking to tulampanga / Alum Cliffs.

Our tip: ask staff for plate pairing suggestions.
